City Marketing

Berlin is a highly fashionable tourist destination worldwide and the most popular city in Europe among young adults. We put our city marketing expertise to work in a number of areas where the focus is on cultural and historical events.

We are specialists in the realm of strong, city-wide open-air projects in the public sphere all the way from the initial idea through the development and implementation phases. Our LICHTGRENZE and DOMINO projects, which celebrated the anniversaries of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Peaceful Revolution of 1989/1990, received particular attention worldwide. Our approach is shaped by key factors, including the effective alignment of concrete event organisation with accompanying campaigns that involve as many different partners as possible. For example, our Year of Science (Wissenschaftsjahr) in 2010 attracted one million visitors who were invited to get to know the various players working in Berlin’s extensive science landscape. In general, our projects are participatory in nature. Our theme year in 2013, which focused on the concept of “Zerstörte Vielfalt” (“Diversity Destroyed”), was underlined by the participation of thousands of children and teenagers in various statements and self-made clips asserting “Unsere Vielfalt nimmt uns keiner mehr!” (“No one can take our diversity away from us again!”). In 2014, fallofthewall25.com provided a worldwide forum for tens of thousands of congratulatory messages marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and calling for the tearing-down of all walls still existing. Each commemorative occasion calls for a fitting celebration as well as effective publicity and efficient implementation. By working closely with our partners, including museums, memorials, associations, scientific institutions, foundations and schools, we are able to ensure that this takes place. In 2016, we launched our latest initiative, “Berlin 365/24”, which is designed to promote Berlin as a cultural metropolis in an original manner.
