Berlin’s Long Night of Museums is the first of its kind in the world and marks the highpoint of the museum year in the capital.

With more than 70 exhibition spaces, we invite all Berliners and guests to discover the diverse treasures of Berlin’s museum landscape in a new way. The capital’s biggest cultural event – invented in Berlin in 1997 – has been copied worldwide due to its success and has long since become a cult brand. Even after more than twenty years, the original Long Night of Museums reinvents itself every year, delighting fans and first-time visitors alike. This is demonstrated by the over one million tickets sold to date. Click here for the website.

Current Information

The Long Night of Museums on 26 August 2023 was a resounding success: over 50,000 visitors experienced the special programs put on by 75 participating museums under the motto “Sounds of Berlin”. We danced the tango in the Jewish Museum, built slide whistles in the Bauhaus Archive, interpreted radio messages from the Cold War, listened to barrel organs from Prenzlauer Berg and heard the purr of vintage car engines.

Schlossplatz and Museum Island vibrated with voices and sounds all night long: hundreds of enthusiasts drummed with N.U. Unruh of „Einstürzende Neubauten“ and attended performances of Berlin bands and DJs in the Alte Nationalgalerie Kolonnadenhof.

The next Long Night of Museums will take place on 24 August 2024.
