Berlin’s 26th Long Night of the Museums

30th January, 18:00 - 02:00

The Long Night of the Museums has long been a highlight in the Berlin calendar, attracting a loyal following of locals, as well as visitors from all corners of the globe. Museums and galleries across the city open their doors late into the night, offering guests an all-you-can-see buffet-style evening of exhibitions, guided tours and special events. A special shuttle bus service operates on several different routes, allowing you to visit even the most out-of-the-way attractions.

In the year 2010/11 Berlin’s five oldest establishments celebrate their jubilee – a good occasion for a Berlin collective Science Year. In this theme year "Berlin – Capital for the Science 2010” will the Long Night also presents the research and science in museums: about 60 houses will show research projects or science work achieved for their exhibitions. Guided tour, performances will complete the permanent exhibitions.

The centre of the Long Night is the place in front of the cityhall, where the visitors will find the shuttle-buses, the information points and buy the tickets.

SHUTTLE BUSES

What are the shuttle bus routes for? Where do they go?

Although many museums are within walking distance of the cityhall (central meeting point), many more are spread out across the city; the shuttle buses are there to help you navigate your way between museums and see as much as possible. On every bus, a steward will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Our programme booklet will have a detailed overview of the bus routes that you can use as your guide.

SPRECHEN SIE DEUTSCH?

People are often unsure whether the Long Night of the Museums is suitable for non German-speakers. The answer is yes, it is! Due to the wide variety of venues and programmes on offer, German is not a pre-requisite to attending the Long Night. Many venues offer information in English, and many exhibitions will speak for themselves visually. On each page of our programme booklet, you will find a short description of each venue and, if you’re still not sure what’s right for you, check out our programme tips for international guests below.
