Move Berlim - Festival of contemporary Brazilian dance

“Move Berlim” has got Berlin on its feet four times before; in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. It explores the variety and roots of the young and energetic Brazilian dance scene and shows the cultural resurgence of this nation after years under military dictatorship.

Brazilian dance is brought to life from the regional roots and cultural heritage of its citizens, based on the extreme realities of life in Brazil. After its re-democratisation, explicitly political themes and radical reworkings of Brazil’s recent history only gradually resurfaced in Brazilian dance production. The festival reinforces and encourages interest and understanding of this energetic dance scene with lectures, panel discussions and workshops.
