Berlin Network for the promotion of contemporary music

Welcome to ohrenstrand.net, which from May 2008 invites you to immerse yourself in the sounds of Berlin and Brandenburg . But you won’t be able to bathe without getting wet; here it’s all about deep immersion in sound, making the motto of your musical experience: Listen, Listen? Listen!

On ohrenstrand.net, under the coordination of Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH, the Academy of Arts, the ausland, the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, the Berlin concert hall, rbb’s culture radio station, the singuhr – hörgalerie, the Berlin Technical University and the Berlin contemporary Opera have planned - together with other project partners – to run a “swimming beach for sound” which invites participants to learn how to listen actively through acoustic events, concerts, sound sets, seminars, youth projects and workshops.

The events will not only take place at venues arranged by collaborators but also at the central ohrenstrand.net venue – a new room in the Pfefferberg in Prenzlauer Berg area. Furthermore, with 'ohrenstrand mobil', a project led by the Berlin contemporary opera, a variety of temporary structures  will become available for use to open up new music to different locations around Berlin and Brandenburg.

Ohrenstrand.net is sponsored by the Netzwerk Neue Musik (New Music Network), a project supported by the Federal Culture Fund. It is one of 15 projects selected across Germany to continue the promotion of new music in the coming years, based on the experience of Tanzplan Deutschland.
