Schaubude Berlin

SCHAUBUDE BERLIN was established in 1993 and is sponsored by Berlin’s senate. It is the only association that specialises in national and international performances of puppet theatre in Berlin, has its own theatre, and puts on a continuous programme for children, teenagers and adults. SCHAUBUDE BERLIN presents a wide selection of both classic and experimental productions, which come alive thanks to the artistic expressiveness of the puppetry. SCHAUBUDE BERLIN organises national and international performances, topical projects, festivals, symposia, and co productions, as well as offering a forum for artistic exchange between puppet-theatre companies from Berlin, Germany and the world. It presents work from the puppeteer department of the “Ernst Busch” drama school in Berlin, and maintains links with the FITZ! Centre for puppetry in Stuttgart, the national college for music and descriptive art in the puppetry study course, the Bochum German Forum for puppet theatre and the art of puppetry, as well as with the Erika-Mann primary school that emphasises the importance of theatre, and the TUSCH BIP School for creativity in Pankow.
